Camilla Johnson was born in Stockholm 1993. She grew up in a suburb south of Stockholm.

She caught the jazzbug early through her grandparents. Her grandmother Marie Johnson was a prolific jazz singer and her grandfather Lars ”Gigge” Johnson was a drummer who played some notable gigs with among others Bud Powell and Don Byas when they visited Sweden in the late 50’s.

While growing up Camilla sang a lot with her sisters and when she became older she started playing with professional musicians that she met through her grandfather Gigge. Camilla recorded an album for LionBear Records that was due for release in 2021. The first single from the album was the jazzstandard ”Call me” by Tony Hatch which Camilla had listened to a lot from the Sarah Vaughan album called ”The New Scene”. The arrangement came together during a jam session with the band. Camilla says she got drawn to the song because she started to think how we are always communicating through text messages these days and that there is something nice about having an actual phone call with someone.

Over the years, Camilla has been seen on Stockholm's most attractive jazz scenes together with some of Sweden's most prominent musicians. Camilla has become a celebrated singer known for her sophisticated, sensitive expression where nostalgia meets modernity.
